Contact lens examinations

A contact lens examination is a specialised assessment that goes beyond a standard eye test. It makes sure your contacts are safe, comfortable and effective for your eyes.

The assessment includes:

Initial consultation and eye health check

We'll review your eye health history and conduct a thorough examination to ensure contact lenses are suitable for you.

Vision assessment

We'll determine your precise contact lens prescription, which often differs slightly from your glasses prescription.

Contact lens fitting

Using advanced technology, we'll take detailed measurements of your cornea and evaluate the shape and size of your eyes to find the perfect fitting lenses.

Lens trial and evaluation

You'll try sample lenses in-office so we can assess their fit and visual performance.

What’s involved

Your contact lens journey begins with a 30-minute appointment with our optometrist. Following this, you'll have a dedicated teaching session with our specially trained staff, which can last up to an hour. During this session, you'll learn how to insert, remove, and care for your lenses properly, all of which are essential to comfortable, safe lens wear.

We understand that handling lenses for the first time can feel daunting, which is why we take our time to ensure you feel completely confident before leaving the practice.

Contact lens options

We offer an extensive range of contact lenses to suit all requirements including:

  • Daily disposables – ideal for occasional wear or if you want maximum convenience.
  • Two-weekly and monthly lenses – cost-effective options for regular wearers with proper care routines.
  • Toric lenses – specially designed for people with astigmatism.
  • Multifocal lenses – provide clarity at different distances for those with presbyopia.
  • Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses – offer exceptional vision quality for specific eye conditions.

We primarily fit Johnson & Johnson Acuvue lenses, renowned for their comfort and quality – although we can easily supply other brands when preferable.

Free trial lenses

We're so confident you'll love your new contact lenses that we offer free trial lenses before you commit to buying.

Aftercare

Regular aftercare appointments will help make sure your lenses continue to perform at their optimum. We recommend annual check-ups for most wearers.
